Implementation of Green and Digital Technologies Based on Regenerative Loads
The project aims to reduce manufacturing lead times by integrating innovative production management tools, and to lower energy consumption through advanced regenerative technologies. These actions deliver significant time and energy savings for the production department, while contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, moving Premium towards a more sustainable and environmentally responsible production model.
By adopting regenerative loads, Premium captures the output power of its automated verification units and converts it into reusable electricity. This solution cuts the energy costs of the production process, minimises residual heat generation, and eliminates the need for additional cooling equipment. The system is estimated to recover up to 15,202 kWh of electrical energy per year, resulting in a reduction of 3,937.32 kg of CO₂ annually, based on an emission factor of 0.259 kg CO₂ per kWh. In addition, the project includes the design and implementation of new production management technologies that improve traceability and product control throughout the entire manufacturing process, reducing process downtime by 35 %. This improvement translates into an estimated energy saving of 432.63 kWh per year, equivalent to an additional reduction of approximately 112.05 kg of CO₂. Overall, the innovation project achieves a total GHG emissions reduction of more than 4,000 kg of CO₂ per year, actively contributing to the fight against climate change.
This initiative is part of the Green Technology Innovation Projects Grant Line (Resolution EMT/2620/2024, of 12 July), promoted by the Government of Catalonia. Its objective is to address the environmental challenges arising from the climate emergency, contribute to climate neutrality and circularity, and facilitate the implementation of the European Green Deal through the introduction of green technologies combined with Industry 4.0 digital technologies.
